I made this little epic inspired by my Grogu Star Wars prints that are still available (at time of posting) from ACME Archives.
I wanted to teach myself some animation techniques using Duik Angela and Joysticks and Sliders in After Effects and decided I'd already got a perfectly good design to work with that could easily be turned into a solid set of assets.
I did a quick set of scrappy boards and put together an animatic that would serve as a solid foundation to build on.
I then rigged the characters head and set to work bringing him to life.
Note: while it took a bit of learning the code to get the sliders to work at the end of the day it was just a head that really needed my focus. However when attempting your first ever animation, under no circumstances include a creature with many legs. It was hard.
Regardless, I've never animated before so was pretty pleased with this little epic turned out.
Also, thanks to my kids for uncredited cameos as voice artists (circa old baby videos) 🙂
This is the way!
